Book Club

After reading the Oregonian’s article on why our kids’ reading slows down in Jr High and High School, and how much continued reading will help them, I think I’ll start a “book discussion group.” Every month, let’s pick a book and read it together. We’ll aim at “young adult” books, or books that those kids might like (I mean, a good book that would appeal to young adults or teenagers wouldn’t be blacklisted just because it’s not “in the genre”). My tastes tend to run more toward science fiction and fantasy, so if you don’t suggest other books, we’ll be reading a lot of those.

Our first book will be The Golden Compass.

Use the Contact Form to suggest books. If your mind blanks and you still want to suggest something, let me recommend this List of Best Selling Young Adult Books.
