The Tools for Schools Program:

The Tools for Schools backpack giveaway program, a program of Schoolhouse Supplies, creates direct links between local businesses and students in high-need schools. The program targets schools with more than 65 percent student eligibility for the Federally-funded free or reduced lunch program.
Tools for Schools is much more than a financial contribution, the program reinforces the connection between the community and public education. Each company organizes groups of employee volunteers to pack the backpacks at Schoolhouse Supplies and distributes the filled backpacks to the students on the first day of school. Companies are encouraged to maintain involvement with their sponsored school throughout the school year.

ABOUT SCHOOLHOUSE SUPPLIES

Schoolhouse Supplies is a nonprofit organization which gives free school supplies to teachers and students in need. Teachers spend an average of $1,700 of their own money each year to provide basic school supplies for their classrooms. Since opening in January 2000, Schoolhouse Supplies has offset these costs by distributing more than $14.4 million in supplies to classrooms, teachers and students in need. Our mission is based on the belief that every child deserves school supplies and has the right to a quality public education.
