Looking for a light summery read? Summer Interns is just your book. It’s about Kira, a girl from outside Philadelphia, interning at a New York fashion magazine. Don’t expect War and Peace, this is no Tolstoy tome, but this is a good light read you can finish in an afternoon.
What’s good about it? First, Kira is very self-confident and her own person. She thrives on her own challenges, from creating her own fashion sense to learning all about the fashion world. Second, there’s some light romance in; enough to keep you interested but not too graphic. And further, Kira is “saving her V card” for the right guy. This book has some great role-models for girls, for guys, and for parents too.
